Canoe Camping

Traveling by canoe is one of the best; if not the best ways to travel.

In a way, a canoe embodies the essence of wilderness exploration, paddling the arterial waterways of regions unknown, floating on a thin strip of bark or wood,(plastic nowadays) completely balanced, effortlessly slicing through the sure peril that is always directly below you,  just an unfortunate bad move away ..  It is an exercise in balance and so is our gear choices: blending the style and soulfulness of the old style, with the the durability and practicality of  modern gear. A canoes allows you to carry a more complete kit, and the kit is the essence of the trip afield, regardless of your means of travel. Part of going into the wilderness is to recreate, to “Re-Create.” The things you choose to bring with you are basic things, yet these basic things are what you rely on to meet your basic needs- you have absolute control of what you bring, and on this trip our gear reflects a classic style in a modern world.

Food is a big deal, sitting by a campfire, cooking a meal, enjoying the great outdoors is a timeless activity, for this trip we tried to bring timeless groceries, to recreate grub that would be recognizable to a fellow out tramping in the early 20th century.

I highly recommend canoe or kayak camping.  these pictures are from a paddling trip Jenny and I did on the Tallapoosa River AlabamaIMG_1745  IMG_1748 IMG_1755 IMG_1756 IMG_1758 IMG_1761 IMG_1763 IMG_1765 IMG_1779 IMG_1780 IMG_1782 IMG_1804 IMG_1808 IMG_1831

  1. Justin, my girlfriend and I canoe and kayak primitive camp each and every year. It’s is oneeded of our many passions. As well as knives, fires, primitive skills, knapping and anything outdoors. I noticed that lean to style tent seems very nice. It passed Norway’s storms with flying colors. Not to mention for light weight quick trips that thing seems perfect. If you don’t mind me asking, who makes that amazing piece of equipment? Keep up the good work. We enjoy following you and Jenny on the interweb. Thanks for your time and wishing you and yours all the best.
